My Homes

I never gave much thought to building my own home. But I’ve lived in many places. Now that I think of it, I’ve lived in almost 10 homes. For being in my early 30s, I think that’s a lot. At the start, it was very slow. As of late, however, the moves seemed to be more often.

When I was a kid, I grew up in a single-family home. It was perfect. The house had three levels. The bedrooms were upstairs, the kitchen and living room were on the main floor, in the basement was, well, downstairs. It had a large backyard which I loved to play in for many years. Now that I think of it, that house wasn’t my first home. When I was a baby, my parents were still renting an apartment. But I don’t remember living there.

When I was around 12 years old my family moved to a new area, but in the same state. Everything was new. The house was bigger, the city had more people, but the backyard was a bit smaller. We lived in this house for a couple year. Then we moved again! We moved to a smaller house in the same town for a couple years. Finally, after that, we moved to a larger house again. But this time, we stayed for, mostly for good. This was home for the next 6 or so years. I moved away in the middle of college.

I got my first apartment! It was great to live alone, although I missed family. A couple apartments later, I was ready to buy my first house. And I did just that. I recommend for people to stay in their home for as long as they can, especially if it’s with family. It’s great to live alone, but family will always be missed!
